Praise Report from Ghana, West Africa!

What a highly honoring and humbling privilege to be given a part in God’s Big Glory Story! Then, as a bonus, being given the opportunity and responsibility to be able to help equip others, especially in the Two-Thirds world, to be more effective in discipling all nations, so that the Lamb receives the rewards of His suffering! GLORY! No wonder the writer of the book of Hebrews called ours a “so great a salvation!”

On Friday June 25, I left for Accra, Ghana in West Africa to teach for one week on how to fulfill the Great Commission at Brother Ron Herrod’s R.H.E.M.A. Bible Institute. Getting off the airplane, I was taken to a bus depot where a ticket was purchased and I rode public transportation to Sunyani, Ghana, a 7 ½ hour ride and quite an experience. Accompanying me was Ben Ofori-Nyame, a pastor and key supervisor for the Bible Institute, and one choice young man, I might add.

The week of teaching began on Monday and continued until Friday at noon. Each day I taught 7 hours, in English, on the subject of Jesus’ Strategy and Standard for building disciples for total world impact. There were around 32 students who were very teachable and worked hard at taking copious notes, asking questions and rehearsing the teachings until some of them began to see the nature of our Great Commission assignment. Although the hot, high humidity weather made it hard on and old guy like me, the potential fruit in these men and women made it worth every drop of sweat and every penny spent. On Friday at noon, we began the graduation ceremonies and although it had been only a five week Institute, the cap and gown dressed graduates, with their proud and excited attitudes, made me feel like I was at a major college ceremony. These men will head back to their various cities and villages to reach, teach and disciple others and plant churches. Thanks Brother Ron Herrod for letting me have a part in this vital investment you are making in the lives of these men and women.

From Sunyani, once again by way of public transportation, 13 hours this time, Ben and I arrived in the far north of Ghana at Bolgatanga. Here I met my dear Brother, Herb Hodges, and on Monday we began another disciple-making conference. This was Herb’s 181st overseas trip to train leaders. When I see him enduring hardships and still teaching and preaching with such great passion, ability and anointing at 76 years of age, I am greatly encouraged and challenged to be like him when I get old! In spite of misleading promises and misappropriated funds, what the devil intended for evil, our Lord transformed into good and we wound up having a good conference with a hand full of people attending. Pray that at least five persons will be captured by the vision and begin to run with Jesus’ strategy to the ends of the earth in making disciples of all people groups!

We returned to the USA on July 3rd, exhausted, but grateful to have the privilege of representing King Jesus around the world!

A special thanks is in order to the two Ghanaian pastors whose sacrificial efforts in setting up the meetings made them a success — thanks Pastor Ben and Pastor Joseph, especially for your teachable spirits. Pastor Joseph gave testimony at the end of the conference that 3 years ago a man prophesied over him in a meeting that some Americans would come into his life and that his whole ministry would be transformed. He said he had totally forgotten the prophecy until the Holy Spirit brought it to his remembrance at the end of the conference and he declared that Herb and I were the fulfillment of those words! Pray that this truly comes to fruition!

Thanks again for your prayers and gifts for our labors! Brother Wade

One Response to “Praise Report from Ghana, West Africa!”
  1. Wade, I read all your emails and want you to know that you and Herb have been great influences in my preaching, teaching and living life. I wish I had great finances to give and support your efforts. Thanks for your faithfulness and intensity because I needed someone who remained sincere through all the hard times to hold on to while I get there. My last day at Freedom Church is July 25th and Rina and I have no idea what or where to go and do. Your faithfulness and willingness to be used by God is a standard few have and that means the world to me. Right now my heart is hurt and expectant. I, too, see 76 as young like Caleb. Doug White has come to my aid many times with encouragement and kindness and he is 77 right now. It’s because of a faithful few (and I know there are many) that I continue to look ahead at the mountain before me and command it to move.

    Thanks for everything..

    Steve
